“Never Be”

During a period of my life where I was struggling to walk the line of having standards but not being too picky, I wrote this song called “Never Be”. I wanted it to encompass the feeling that I am enough and every one of my past relationships need to take a back seat because the person whom I have become, I am proud of. Remembering the past so you don’t make the same mistakes while acknowledging all you bring to the table - that’s what “Never Be” is all about!

“Infinity”

I liked the idea of a tattoo because it is permanent and whomever your infinity happens to be, I believe that should be permanent. This feeling of an exposed, raw persona surrounded by the beauty of nature yet marked with the permanent feeling of infinity will always draw me to whomever my infinity one day will be. And I will forever hold out hope for my “infinity”.

“Lie To Me”

There are times when I felt so low that I didn’t feel anyone can relate and therefore feel like a burden to anyone who tries to listen and help. I also felt so trapped with people saying “I am here if you need anything” but when I would reach out, they would be busy with something. This cycle really drained me so I wrote this song to remind me that there IS light at the end of the tunnel. That if you hang on just a LITTLE bit longer, things WILL get better. People WILL be there to help you up and life WILL continue to amaze you, if you just give it a second chance.

“Lie To Me”

I have toyed with the idea that “ignorance is bliss” for many years. In most instances of that phrase, I agree with it. The idea of someone you love lying to you was an interesting concept in my head. Because on the surface you think “why would I ever want my significant other to lie to me”. I wanted to give a reason why I thought that MIGHT be a good thing. To someone who love comes so difficult yet so quickly at the same time, finding someone I really enjoy is rare. I wanted to write a story of finding someone I loved who didn’t love me back but told me they did even though it was a lie.

“Love Me If You Dare”

The concept of this song came from wanting to write something from my ex’s perspective. But as I continued to write this song and develop the story that is “Love Me If You Dare”, I realized we have more in common NOW than we did when we were dating. The choice to go with a more rock, grunge, punk sound mixed with my pop-genre sound was extremely intentional. I wanted to push the limits of my sound and push the boundaries of who everyone has gotten to know as “Ridg Downs”.

“Tipsy Light of Summer”

Tipsy Light of Summer is inspired by a summer fling that turned into me wanting more. I promised myself I wouldn’t get attached yet couldn’t stop thinking about my lover. I was of the mindset that if I wasn’t attached, I couldn’t get my heart broken.
